Centre for Sustainable Energy’s Futureproof platform had a conversion problem. Complex checkout flows, breaking tax calculations, and unclear location-based eligibility were killing completions. The WooCommerce setup had become a bottleneck.
Our rebuild focused on removing friction: streamlined e-commerce experience, custom tax and voucher systems, flexible architecture CSE’s team manages independently. Built to convert households into supported users.
The Challenge
Centre for Sustainable Energy’s Futureproof platform wasn’t converting. The existing WooCommerce setup had become a bottleneck—rigid product structure, complex tax calculations breaking checkout, and location-based service eligibility buried in the user journey. Households abandoned mid-purchase. Administrators struggled to manage regional variations. The platform needed complete restructuring.
We prototyped the complete user experience before development. Multiple checkout flows tested against one key metric: completion rate. Mapped every decision point, where users entered postcodes, how funding appeared, when eligibility was confirmed. Prototypes revealed the bottlenecks. Final journey: postcode → eligible services → clear pricing → streamlined checkout
The Solution
We rebuilt the e-commerce architecture from the ground up. Custom tax calculation system handling regional variations. Flexible voucher system for funding schemes. Location-based service filtering to show only eligible options based on postcode. Streamlined checkout flow—removing friction points that caused abandonment. Flexible product structure allowing CSE to add new services and regions without developer intervention.
